Coal Mine Dragon in Evergreen

We really like Coal Mine Dragon. The food is solid. We’ve been taking out and dining in for awhile (since 2010). The owners are nice to us, but I think it’s because they know us? We will keep going back. The Sesame Chicken, War Won Soup, Kung Pao Beef and Moo Shu Chicken are our favorites! Ordering tonight!

Entirely adequate Chinese food in a cozy, lakeside location. The food is unremarkable. Decently tasty, but nothing that stands out as exceptional. The lunch prices were cheap and portion size was good. I wouldn't seek this place out, but if I were hungry and nearby, I'd consider coming back with no compunction.

This place has fabulous food! Always fresh, hot and delicious. My husband and I frequent Coal Mine for dine in or a quick takeout option. Their Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao Beef, Mongolian Beef and Moo Shu Pork are a couple of our favs. Bonus: great service 😊🥡🥢

*Update* My family still enjoy's their food more than other Asian cuisine found in Evergreen, but the prices are high enough that we can't afford to eat here when we like to. Especially now that they no longer honor their Lunch Menu. Was told by the owner today that it's okay b/c it's only about a dollar more. Not sure where she gets her numbers, but the math doesn't check out. Do your consumers a favor and update your menu's in your restaurant and online to reflect your new prices and remove the Lunch Menu.

I felt a need to update my review. I have been coming here since I was a little girl, but I really feel that Cole Mine has put a focus on improving their customer service and it really shows! I enjoy coming here often now. They have the best hot and sour soup, it doesn’t compare anywhere else. I literally get their soup once a week. The sesame chicken is delicious, kids would love it too. I call in once a week and they always have my order ready in 10 mins and they are always friendly and quick. They even remember my twin sister now. Delicious food and I always have a pleasant take out experience!

Awesome little Chinese place. Been eating here for close to 20 years and the quality has always been great. Fantastic home made Chinese dishes (their Sesame chicken is particularly delicious). Wonderful service too... if you dine there a couple of times, it won’t be long before Lynn knows you by name and remembers what you like to order. She seems to be on a first name basis with everyone who walks in the door, which is pretty impressive. If you’re in Evergreen and craving Chinese food, no need to drive down the hill! Coal Mine is a fantastic option.

Great food and service at a good price point.

The food is average and Amy/ server is the worst! The first time we went there and asked for a to go box she literally said “I’m not your slave”.... seriously. We had a fairly large group- 2 families, however we were very considerate of other diners and took our infants outside when they got fussy. Our second experience, we ordered takeout for a group at our home. My husband asked for homemade spicy mustard, Amy said she gave him two (for two orders) and threw in 2 packets of mustard. 2 packets for 2 full orders of chicken fried rice. I’d give it 5 stars for the food, but way they treat patrons is definitely the worst I’ve experienced.

We were one of the only people there and the servers were very curt. We sat at our table for a good 2 minutes without a menu. When I asked what kind of tea was served, the waitress said I don't know and walked away. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because the food was pretty good, but the service wasn't friendly or helpful.

Great Chinese for Evergreen! Huge portions! Super service!

We have lived here for 50 years, we have gone here to eat hundreds of times. The food is good, but the prices have gotten way to high. The attitudes of the owners/workers have always been snippy, but over the last five years, they've become down right mean to us. I know they are probably burnt out...But that's NO excuse! I'm done with this place for good.

Mehhh. It was okay. Why are the fortune cookies yellow? The food was okay. We were pretty hungry.

I’ve had beef lo mein here a few times and its been excellent every time. I’ve never had bad service here.

BEWARE: Incredibly sour, mean, grumpy waitress. She is ugly to us and even our young children. We are tired of all the open hostility. Tired of her challenging our orders, looks of disgust, and throwing down plates and cups. Last time there we saw her be mean to another mom with young children. Horrible! We will never go back.

Our family eats here at least twice a month and we keep on coming. I love it and the service is great. We are always treated like family, and we leave stuffed.

I've been going here since I was a baby with my family :) Delicious food and very relaxing restaurant. My personal favorite is the wonton soup with lo mein! They are great for take-out as well.

I go to this marvelous place many times as I like the special atmosphere that is characterizes this restaurant. The crew is extremely loyal and professional. The service is remarkablywonderfully rapid. Needless to say, the food they serve is exceptionaly good. I frequent more than once and I was always pleased. The rate is fair. I highly suggest this restaurant to to all.

Delicious tofu soup and veggies and tofu. Yummy! I could eat there every week.

Ordered food labeled as "hot & spicy" and the waitress even warned us it was hot, but it wasn't even a tiny bit spicy which was disappointing... But service was great and food still tasted good!

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The family that runs the restaurant is warm and inviting and will remember your name if your a regular.

We have been eating here for years. Whether we eat in or get it to go the food is ALWAYS excellent and well worth the price. The staff is friendly and always remembers us. We love Coal Mine Dragon and would DEFINATELY recommend it to anyone in Evergreen or planning to visit our quaint town.

Great place up on Evergreen for Chinese food. Dine in or take out, this is our go to place up the hill. Great friendly service and reliable food in an excellent location directly across the lake.

Very nice service, though it took a while for them to take our order. We enjoyed the complimentary hot tea, that was nice. It was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. I went with 2 friends, we each ordered 1 entree and only received 1 plate of rice. Obviously, it wasn't enough. I had the orange chicken... it was good, though I've had much better and only paid half as much. The pieces of chicken were small. As others have said, it is pretty basic.

My husband and I really like Coal Mine Dragon, we love to eat here every now and then as a night out....The food always taste the same and the staff is very friendly each and every time we go in. Friday nights sometimes is busy but they are never too busy to welcome you.

Family owned and operated in evergreen since...forever. Easily my favorite Chinese place anywhere. The Ta-Chen chicken is the perfect level of spicy and the sizzling rice soup is excellent. This is the only place I know of for the soup in the area. The sisters that wait the tables are nice, and the place is usually hopping. If you are looking for Chinese food in the mountains, this is the place to get it.

The take out was good, but I won't pay good money to be talked to like that over the phone. I should have just canceled my order instead of rewarding them for their snarkiness. I won't be back.

Very delicious food, friendly and quick service. We got seafood soup, chow noodle, mushroom and vegetable dish. The owner was wonderful, the food was delicious and the view was amazing. I would definitely return.

Delicious take out! We get it all the time and it's always good. The order is always ready exactly when they say (they also appreciate my punctuality). Decent prices, good comfort food.
